Vehicles Due for Testing in 2013

Indiana is making steady progress toward reducing emissions of pollutants from industry, motor vehicles and other activities that contribute to the formation of ground level ozone in Lake and Porter counties.

Cars and light-duty trucks contribute 30 - 50 percent of the pollutants that cause harmful ground-level ozone and also contribute significantly to the amount of air toxics and particulate matter in the environment. The Clean Air Car Check program identifies vehicles that emit harmful pollutants and once repaired, those vehicles' performance and fuel economy are improved, as is the air we breathe. Properly maintained vehicles also result in less contamination being released into the groundwater.

Clean Air Car Check stations are open:

Tuesday -	9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday -	9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursday -	9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday -	9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday -	9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Avoid the Rush!

Vehicles can be inspected beginning in October of the year before they are due to be tested. There is no need to wait for a notice to arrive in the mail, just bring in your vehicle prior to its registration expiration.

Most passenger vehicle registrations expire on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th days during the months of February through December. The days leading up to these deadlines are typically very busy times at Clean Air Car Check stations. Avoid the busiest days of the month to reduce your wait time. Corporate fleet vehicles expire January 31st, so the end of January can also be very busy at our testing sites.
